Another week of basketball is underway! It was a busy week in the EBF gym, as there
were three boys and girls basketball games at home this week! The EBF girls team took home
another dominant win in the South Central Conference winning 80-22 against Clarke. The
Rockets had four players in double figure points, and everyone on the team contributed to
scoring. The EBF boys had a tough game ahead of them, losing 43-61 against an experienced
Clarke team. The Rockets were led by sophomore Emmett Holohan with 9 points. Gavin Spaur
and Corbin Kirkpatrick each chipped in 8 points.
The Rockets were back in action on Friday night where they would face a physical
Chariton team. The EBF girls cruised past Chariton holding them scoreless in the first half and
ultimately winning 60-16. The Rockets were led by Molly Shafer with 29 points and Kaylee
Helm with 9 points, all coming from behind the three point line. The Rockets go into holiday
break undefeated in the conference. The EBF boys were down two players due to sickness and
injury. Despite that, they still put up a strong fight against a tough Charger squad, losing 29-74.
The Rockets were led by Logan Kirkpatrick with 11 points on the night
The last game of the week was against a big rival, Oskaloosa. The Eddybalooska
traveling trophy was at stake. The EBF girls were looking to avenge their only regular season
loss of last year. The Rockets trailed by double digits early in the game, but battled back to lead
at halftime. The Indians and Rockets were going back and forth in the third quarter and the
Rockets led 36-35 going into the fourth quarter. After a roller coaster of a game, the Rockets
sealed the deal with Ava Eastlick getting a big steal, drawing the foul, and sinking her free
throws to seal the win for the Rockets. The Eddybalooska trophy is back in the right hands as the
Rockets beat the Indians 53-49. The EBF boys had another tall task ahead facing the Oskaloosa
Indians. They struggled to find their rhythm against a talented Oskaloosa team where they fell
28-79. The boys are optimistic heading into the new year, where they will have more experience
under their belt for the next half of the season.
