Fast, fierce, and fantastic—these Rockets aren’t running out of fuel!
Kate Shafer wrote the paragraphs reflecting on senior basketball players.
The girls senior basketball class has had strong performances in athletics throughout their junior high and high school careers. While competing In junior high many people knew that this group was going to be special. These athletes had two undefeated seasons in basketball and volleyball, and set multiple track and field records. With all of these successes in junior high the future was looking very bright for their high school careers. Throughout their high school years they have been a part of three volleyball state appearances including the runner up finish in 2024. They have made two appearances at state basketball and are 4 time conference champions. They have qualified multiple track events to Drake Relays and the state meet, and this past season were SCC Champions. Along with all these other accomplishments they top it off with a state softball appearance in 2024 with a third place finish. The past four years the Rockets girls athletic run is something that will go down as one of the best in EBF history.
The Rockets are looking forward to regional play in basketball where they are seeking for another state tournament qualification, but also looking for something a little more. Ava Eastlick stated “Being a basketball state champion is something that I dreamed about since I was little.” This is the last time this group will play together so they are hoping to make the most of it and bring home a state title in basketball. Molly Shafer stated “ I think that we have the talent, teamwork, leadership, and determination that is needed to be a championship team.” The Rocket basketball team's path to state is looking promising with a first round bye, the second round is against the winner of Pekin and Cardinal and if they continue to win they are predicted to play ACGC in the regional final to go to state for their third consecutive state basketball appearance.
Go Rockets!!
